YOUR RACQUET STRINGS
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU RESTRING YOUR RACQUET?
General guidance is to change your strings per year as many times as you play in a week. So if you play 4 times a week, change your string quarterly. Beginner players may be less sensitive to tension loss and so may go longer.
WHY SHOULD YOU RESTRING?
When we string your racquet, we pull the string hard to create a desired tension. And then your hits and the heat and other factors reduce that tension. As your strings lose tension, you may gain more power and feel - and you lose some control. For anyone suffering injuries (like tennis elbow), a freshly strung racket can help cut down on shock and therefore increase comfort.
AND DO SEEK HELP !
Tammie can help you assess options when you have your racquet restrung, like tension, gauge and string material. Talk to your stringer and they should ask questions - like do you have injuries, do you play a lot of soft game, etc. Most stringers offer recommendation to help you choose the string that is best for you.
Rays Racquets can provide strings and restringing services and offers a 10% discount to PCTC Members. Services are just $18 for labor (strings sold separately and usually $15-$20 range). Restringing is usually done in 24-48 hours.
Wigwam Tennis is closer (in miles) and also sells strings and provides restringing services. Services there range from $24-$32 dollars and depending on string type.
